Baked Apples & Custard

REMEMBER, REMEMBER THE 5TH OF NOVEMBER, BAKED APPLES WITH CUSTARD ON TOP!

1. Slice the top off of the bramley apples before scooping out the centre of the apple - discard or reserve for another recipe. Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/Gas 4
2. Core and dice the eating apples and place in a saucepan along with the sultanas, sugar and cinnamon. Add a small dash of water before placing over a medium heat. Cook for 3 - 4 minutes until the sugar has dissolved and apples have slightly softened and caramelised.
3.In a dry, hot pan, add the mixed nuts and toast for 2 minutes, then add to the apple mixture. Fill the brambly apples with the sweet apple mixture and place in a baking tray. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until the apples are soft and piping hot.
4. Remove from the oven and crumble over the biscuits before serving with lashings of vanilla custard.
